American actress Ariel Winter, known for her role as Alex in the series "Modern Family", has revealed for the first time that she experienced sexual abuse and constant pressure from a young age while working in the film industry.
In an interview with DailyMail, Winter, who began her career in Hollywood at the age of 4, said she was exposed very early to older men who sent her inappropriate messages.
"I'm familiar with male predators. When I started using a laptop and a cell phone, scary messages started coming in. It was traumatic," she said, without wanting to give too many details.
Winter emphasized that what went on behind the scenes was only a dark part of the industry, the rest came from media pressure. She was heavily criticized and commented on for her physical appearance while still a teenager.
"When I was 14, my body was news on every page. Every headline was about the way I looked. It was horrible," she recalls.
The actress also revealed that during high school, due to mental health problems, she had to take antidepressants, which brought about physical and emotional changes.
