A 'pornography task force' will propose new legislation this autumn to ban a type of pornographic content called "barely legal", such as that produced by adult film actress Bonnie Blue, The Guardian reports.
This action, announced by the independent task force on pornography, comes in reaction to the broadcast of the Channel 4 documentary, "1000 Men and Me: The Bonnie Blue Story".
The documentary followed the actress's life for six months and included her claim that she had sex with 1,057 men within 12 hours.
After the broadcast, well-known companies such as Visa and Smirnoff pulled their advertising from the platforms where the documentary was being shown, after reviewing the content.
The documentary has been criticised by England's children's commissioner, Dame Rachel de Souza, for "normalising" extreme pornography.
The documentary also includes scenes of preparation for an orgy in a classroom, where Bonnie Blue (real name: Tia Billinger) and other models dressed in school uniforms, while the actors themselves admitted that they were chosen because of their new looks.
Meanwhile, the Online Safety Act has tasked regulator Ofcom with monitoring whether porn platforms are protecting UK users from illegal content, including child sexual abuse and extreme pornography.
However, harmful pornography that is regulated offline (such as in movie theaters) is not subject to the same rules online.
Channel 4's documentary about Bonnie Blue has also been widely criticised for failing to question her claims that the activity was harmless.
