
Three of Princess Diana's dresses sold at auction for an estimated $1.62 million.
Clothes worn by the former Princess of Wales before she died aged 36 in a car crash in Paris in 1997 were among 1,400 items up for auction at Julien's Auctions and Turner Classic Movies Presents.
The three items sold were a red silk Bruce Oldfield dress and two designs by Catherine Walker: a black silk dress with white bodice bands and another in black and green made from silk material.
Worn by Princess Diana to the premiere of the movie "Hot Shots" with actor Charlie Sheen in November 1991, the short-sleeved Bruce Oldfield dress from $571,500 was valued at $200,000.
Catherine Walker's black and green design worn by the Princess to a gala dinner at the Royal York Hotel in Toronto, Canada in 1991 sold for $571,500.
Meanwhile, the $60,000 Catherine Walker black-and-white dress Diana wore to a family event sold for $508.00.
