Meriton Mjekiqi had Soni Malaj as his next guest on "Are You Normal?" In this interview, where Soni also sang along with Meriton, he left nothing unsaid with all sincerity, as is rare sometimes.

Are there any good producers today?

The growth in the market has become very large in terms of the music part, since the market part has also changed, everything has been digitalized, consumption has become much faster in terms of music. Because before there were discs and cassettes and we had to work for a long time to produce them. But today producers are not able to keep up with singers, because singers are multiplying. But when it comes to doing a live concert, there are three of us in the entire industry. If there are going to be big events in Albania and we have to go out to Skanderbeg Square in front of 20 thousand people live, it's just me, Aurela Gaçe, Alban Skënderaj. Everything is minimized, from the hundreds of singers that there are, the number is decreasing.

How has the music industry changed today compared to before?

The good thing is that there is a lot of information now. Whoever wants to work, things are much more professional. Competition has increased the demand for accountability on everyone, starting from image and stage appearances. The bad thing is that it is fast consumption. Playback continues strongly, in clubs even when we want to sing live, it is not the right technique. Since most singers sing playback, there is a very small minority who want to go live, but the club owners say no, because others are at risk. The audience understands this very well. Maybe the singers also want to go live, but the conditions are not there, because the thing is very fast.

You have collaborated with rappers several times, what role are hip-hop artists playing in our music?

We, having an American culture, naturally the hip-hop part is very dear to us. Before, the lyrics were somewhat cleaner, while today they are about substance use and I see that even in public they are a little tiring. Before, we could hardly wait when BabaStars, or Kaos, or Skillz, or PINT came out. When you are in the minority, you are something rarer and you are more desirable. Quality is personal, each person has their own artistic skills. I am a bit of a fanatic of the old school of hip-hop. From the young people today, who has impressed me is MatoLale, Kidda, I really like him because he has a very special style.
