It may have been twenty-three years since Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger divorced. Once the most beautiful couple in Hollywood, the 66-year-old actor is still experiencing the aftereffects of divorce on his family life. In the latest episode of the series “The Baldwins,” the 66-year-old actor spoke about how their 2002 split affected him and his children.
“My divorce from Ireland’s mother wasn’t easy. It was very long, very expensive. “It was just crazy, just crazy,” he said. “I was on a plane every week, all school year long. I was going back and forth from New York to Los Angeles 18 times a year. I rented a house eight houses away from my daughter and her mother, thinking that would make things better, but it didn’t. So it ended and it remains difficult.”
The Hollywood star has confessed that this difficult experience still affects him in his relationship with his younger children. "Since my relationship with Ireland was very negatively affected by the divorce from her mother, I carry all that burden in my relationship with my other children, unfortunately," he said.
“That's why I think I'm so focused on fatherhood, being present and taking them to school most days, instead of working.”
Baldwin and Basinger divorced after more than two decades of marriage.
