New details have come to light regarding the death of actor Matthew Perry in 2023, as US authorities continue their investigation into the circumstances that led to his loss.
According to federal prosecutors, the actor's former assistant, Kenneth Iwamasa, allegedly began efforts to hide evidence just an hour after Perry's death, who was found lifeless on October 29 in the hot tub of his California apartment.
Investigators allege that Iwamasa destroyed physical and digital evidence related to the actor's use of ketamine, and also requested that other people be involved in the disappearance of materials that could connect a narcotics supply network.
He pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute ketamine that resulted in death, following a plea deal with authorities in 2024. US prosecutors are seeking a sentence of 41 months in prison, while he initially faced up to 15 years in prison.
The investigative file also states that Iwamasa, without medical training, is suspected of repeatedly administering ketamine to the actor, including in the final hours before his death. He is further accused of making false statements to authorities, attempting to shift responsibility and minimize his role in the events.
The case is expected to be concluded in the upcoming court hearings, where the final sentence will be determined.
