Rome prosecutors have added the charge of "revenge porn" to the open file on stolen intimate videos of presenter Stefano De Martino and his partner Caroline Tronelli. A twist that sheds light on an even darker scenario.
According to "Corriere della Sera", investigators no longer see the incident as a "technological coincidence", but as an internal betrayal. Suspicion falls on someone who knew the video surveillance codes well, a technician, perhaps an acquaintance of the house, someone who used trust as a weapon.
The incident occurred on August 9, when the home security camera was hacked and an intimate video of the couple was stolen. Just a few hours later, the footage was circulating on Telegram. It was a follower who recognized De Martino's tattoos and warned him: "Stefano, intimate videos of you and your partner are circulating on the internet." The following day, the couple filed a police report in Porto Cervo, where they were vacationing.
The social media platforms where the video was shared quickly were shut down one after the other after the presenter intervened. However, the video was downloaded, copied, and redistributed. The Italian Privacy Authority ordered the blocking and imposed fines on those who owned or distributed it, but the damage was irreversible.
Against this backdrop, the Rome prosecutor's office has entrusted the investigation to the Postal Police, while the accusations of "revenge porn" add to the legal and moral weight of the case. De Martino's lawyer, Angelo Pisani, described the situation in strong tones in an interview with Agorà Estate:
"Anyone would feel insulted and spiritually broken when they see their image manipulated and distributed illegally. These are wounds that go beyond careers, they affect dignity. And for the first time, we demand that not only those who produce or steal the material be punished, but also those who store and distribute it. They are also co-responsible."
