The horrific event that shook the city of Pawtucket, Rhode Island, where Robert Dorgan, 56 years old and transgender, opened fire during an ice hockey game, killing his ex-wife, Rhonda, and their 23-year-old son, Aidan, and injuring several other people, has taken on an even more disturbing dimension.
Investigations have revealed that Dorgan had tattoos with neo-Nazi symbols, while his social media posts contained hate speech and extreme ideology. Organizations that monitor extremism have noted that some of his tattoos are historically linked to neo-Nazi movements, highlighting a worrying ideological profile behind this violent attack.
According to police, Dorgan managed to enter and exit the arena before returning armed with two firearms – a Glock 10mm and a SIG Sauer P226, which he had legally obtained. A witness, Michael Black, intervened to try to neutralize the perpetrator and prevent further shots from being fired, but suffered injuries to his hand and face during the scuffle.
The shocking event has raised important questions about the influence of extreme ideologies and neo-Nazi symbolism on individuals who commit unprecedented violence.
