China's rapid development in the field of robotics was reflected in the activities organized as part of the CCTV Spring Festival Gala, the traditional television program that accompanies the Lunar New Year celebrations.
Four robotics start-ups – Unitree Robotics, Galbot, Noetix and MagicLab – presented their humanoid robots at this very large-audience event, which is often compared to the Super Bowl in the United States in terms of impact and viewership.
The first skits were dominated by robots, with an extensive martial arts demonstration standing out. More than a dozen robots from the company Unitree performed coordinated “fighting” scenes with swords and spears.
The program also featured the artificial intelligence chatbot Doubao, developed by ByteDance. Meanwhile, robots from companies Noetix and MagicLab participated in humorous skits and choreography alongside human performers.
