The power struggle affects UEFA once again, with Aleksander Ceferi, the current president seeking to change the statute, this for an obvious reason, seeking to remove his term limit. So he wants to run again at the end of his third term, which ends in 2027.
According to the current code, a president cannot run for more than three terms, but Ceferi sees it differently. This decision of the number one of European football has brought dissatisfaction, while the last one to react with a strong act is Zvonimir Boban, the Technical Director of UEFA, who has resigned by issuing strong accusations against Ceferin:
" With sadness and a broken heart, I have no other option but to leave UEFA ", the Croatian legend emphasized in a statement published by "Bild", insisting that Ceferin does not think about football but only about personal ambitions with the decision he has taken to change the charter in favor of re-election again at the end of this term, which was supposed to be his last.
" Although I have expressed my deep concerns and my complete rejection of the plan, the president of UEFA does not see any legal, let alone moral and ethical, problem. He wants to continue with his plan in order to pursue his personal ambitions" , said Boban, among other things.
