The Cyprus Cup derby between AEL and Apollon Limassol has not started, as there have been numerous incidents between fans of the two teams at the "Alphamega" stadium.
As reported by the Cypriot media, the hooligans invaded the playing field and fought, causing the intervention of the police forces. Order was finally restored, and when it appeared that the match would go ahead, the police announced that they could not guarantee its success.
Thus, the fate of the match will be decided in the halls of the Federation, just like that of Nea Salamina-APOEL, which was interrupted a few days ago due to fireworks.
For his part, Apollon Limasol commented on what happened, saying that "Apollon Football wants to take a stand for not starting tonight's Cup match against AEL. The match never started after a political decision and we are waiting to know the reasons that led to this decision, at a time when everyone knew it was a high-risk game."
