Despite Arne Slot having publicly stated that he will continue to manage Liverpool through the 2026-2027 season, the situation at the club remains unclear and the possibility of a change on the bench this summer cannot be ruled out.
The Dutchman's position has been shaken significantly due to recent results and the fact that Liverpool have not yet mathematically secured qualification for next season's Champions League. The Reds need at least a draw in the final week of the championship to seal their European goal.
According to reports from "Diario AS", the English club's leaders have put Spanish coach Andoni Iraola back on their wish list. The latter is expected to end his adventure with Bournemouth at the end of the season and will be free to negotiate with other clubs.
Iraola had been one of the main candidates for the Liverpool bench even after Jurgen Klopp's departure, but at that time the management decided to entrust the project to Arne Slot.
Sources close to the club suggest that if Liverpool fail to secure Champions League qualification, Slot's departure is considered almost inevitable. However, even if the team achieves their European target, the Dutch coach's future does not seem entirely guaranteed.
