The Albanian Football Federation appears to have made another strategic move for the future of the national team, securing the approval of 17-year-old talent Adri Mehmeti, who plays for the New York Red Bulls in MLS.
Signals about the player's approach to the Rossoneri were given indirectly by the Albanian Football Association itself, during the first day of work of the new national team coach, Rolando Maran.
In the footage released by the Federation, Maran appears in a meeting with his assistant Ervin Bulku, who will hold the role of deputy coach in the technical staff of Albania. In the office where the meeting took place, two tables with the names of the footballers who are considered part of the red and black project were visible.
One of them listed current players of the national team, but also new names who have agreed to join Albania, including Luis Hasa. What caught the eye was the name of Adri Mehmeti, written in red on the board.
Mehmeti, who previously played for Albania's U-15 team, later chose to represent the United States' junior teams. However, it seems that the Albanian Football Association has managed to convince the young talent to return to the Rossoneri, offering him the opportunity to immediately join the A-team.
The presence of his name in the group of players available to Maran hints that the 17-year-old could be one of the novelties on Albania's roster for the June friendlies.
