Barcelona's transfer to Belgium against Antwerp in the Champions League has turned out to be a real nightmare for the Catalans and has infuriated president Laporta, who was not at all happy with coach Xavi's decisions to leave Araujo, Gyndogan and Levandovski out of the team.
A defeat that has worsened the atmosphere inside the club, as it follows the failure last weekend in the championship against Girona.
In Belgium, the Catalans lost 3-2, conceding the decisive goal in the last seconds shortly after a provisional 2-2 draw.
The Blaugrana finished the group in first place, but lost the almost 3 million that UEFA guarantees for every victory in the group stage.
The lack of income did not make Laporta happy, who was also disappointed by the poor performance against a team that had not received any points in the group so far.
Despite the big changes to the formation made by Xavi ahead of the delicate match at the Mestalla against Valencia on Sunday, the president expected a very different reaction. Laporta did not hide his disappointment at the end of the match.
The cameras of 'El Chiringuito' actually filmed Laporta, as he waited in the parking lot of the "Bosuilstadion" in Antwerp before he appeared in front of the team with a gloomy look.
As seen in a video published by 'La TdT', Laporta and the rest of the leaders left the stadium without making any statement.
Barcelona seems to be on the brink of a crisis, but Ferran Torres, the author of the Catalans' first goal, who wanted to protect the group from outside controversies, doesn't seem to think so:
" We are very united and from the side of our coach," said the striker. - We are the first to be disappointed, but now we have to focus on the championship. From outside, they are trying to destroy us, but we know that and we have to live with it ."
