The race for tickets for the 2026 World Cup, to be hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico, has officially begun. Ticket sales are being conducted through a FIFA lottery, a system that allows only selected individuals to enter the sales phase and purchase “closed-box” tickets without knowing in advance which matches they will see. The draw for the matches will, in fact, only take place in December, and only then will it be possible to select specific matches.

Waiting to learn whether Albania will finally reach the playoffs of a World Cup finals, enthusiasm among football fans around the world is growing for an event that promises to be among the most spectacular and costly ever.

Prices of all matches and how to buy tickets

Prices vary significantly depending on the stage of the tournament and the position on the stadium steps: starting from around 200 euros for the first matches and reaching over 2,500 euros to watch the semi-finals. The final, scheduled at New York's MetLife Stadium, will be the most exclusive event, with tickets ranging from 2,030 to 6,730 dollars (around 1,900–5,800 euros).

For the host countries of the 2026 World Cup, such as the United States, Mexico and Canada, the costs are even higher: from $400 to $800 for group matches, with the first home match potentially exceeding $1,700.

Despite promises of affordable tickets, many fans have complained about the lack of cheap tickets, often limited to the most inconvenient sections of the stadiums. Tickets for the 2026 World Cup are purchased exclusively through the FIFA lottery, and therefore cannot be freely purchased online. Only selected users from among the millions registered on the official portal are given access to a 24-hour window to purchase tickets, without knowing in advance which match they will be watching.

The first phase of sales, reserved for Visa cardholders, began on October 1, while the second is scheduled for October 27. However, many fans have expressed disappointment: some of those selected have not received confirmation emails, and the much-advertised 60 euro tickets turned out to be very few and located in the less favorable sectors of North American stadiums.
