The matches of the 1/16th stage of the Albanian Cup were played today, determining the 8 quarterfinal teams. Bylisi won 3-2 against Laç in extra time, after the regular time ended 2-2. Dinamo won 3-0 against Besa e Kavajës, with goals from Bernard Berisha, Dejvi Bregu and Harold Berisha.
Etien Tare, the hero of Tirana. The white and blues faced Skënderbeu, the regular time ended 1-1. In the 119th minute, it was Igli Tare's son who scored the winning goal and qualification for the white and blues. Partizan won 3-0 against Burrel, with goals from Human, Kontrera, and Xhuljano Skuka.
Elbasan won after 30 minutes of extra time against Flamurtari. Regular time ended 1-1. The Yellow and Blues were the first to find the advantage with Xhonathan Lajthia in the 30th minute, while the Vlorë team scored with Aldrit Oshafi in the second half.
In the 105th minute, Elbasan was left with 10 players, after Emiliano Musta received a second yellow card. The winning goal for the yellow-blue team came in the 113th minute with Donart Ibrahim. Egnatia won 1-0 against Apolonia with a goal by Buric. Teuta won 2-0 against Vora with goals by Jurgens and Ardit Toli. Vllaznia won 1-0 against Pogradec with a goal by Elmando Gjin in the 83rd minute.
Thus, in the 1/8 stage, all the host teams won. Partizani, Tirana, Dinamo, Bylisi, Vllaznia, Egnatia, Elbasani and Teuta. The teams playing in the Superiore, at least since the last edition, are different.
There will be a draw for the quarter-finals. The first pot includes Egnatia, Vllaznia, Partizani and Dinamo. On the other side are Elbasan, Teuta, Bylisi and Tirana. The teams in the first pot will face those in the second pot.
Unlike before, the matches will be played on a home-and-away basis. The chances are high for the capital derby, as Tirana has Partizan and Dinamo as potential rivals.
