
Skender Brahimaj, one of the most beloved and legendary figures of Vlonia football, has passed away today.
Skender Brahimaj was born on September 19, 1936 in Lepenica, Vlora. At the age of 17, he started his football career with the Flamurtari team. In 1962, he was declared one of the 10 best football players in Albania.
His football career lasted 13 years. He then served as a football coach and physical education teacher. In the mid-80s, Skënder Brahimaj was appointed coach of the Tepelena team. It was precisely there where he discovered, prepared and helped in his career, the talent Foto Strakosha, the former goalkeeper of the Albanian national team during the years 1990-2000.

During the years 1990-2000, Skënder Brahimaj took over the management of the Flamurtari team, for several years as a trainer and then also as the head of the Flamurtari Club.
Professor Skënder Brahimaj has educated and prepared many generations of well-known football players, such as Uran Xhafa, Gëzim Troqe, Cane Ahmeti, Kreshnik Çipi and recently Foto Strakosha.
The passion and dedication for sports and football has turned Skënder Brahimaj into one of the legends of this sport, in the city of Vlora and beyond.
The procession to the last residence will take place tomorrow at 11 o'clock, from his house in the neighborhood of Pavarësia, to the cemetery of Shreshta.
