Albanian referee Florian Lata has been selected by UEFA to referee the final of the U-17 European Championship "Estonia 2026", one of the most important events in European youth football.
The final match between Belgium and Italy will take place on June 7 at the Lilleküla Stadium in Tallinn, starting at 7:00 p.m. Florian Lata will be the main referee of the match, while Albanian assistant Mario Shazivari will also be part of the refereeing team.
The refereeing team also includes Nikola Borovic from Serbia in the role of second assistant and Thomas Gary Owen from Wales as fourth official.
This appointment comes after Lata's positively evaluated performances during the final phase of the tournament in Estonia. The Albanian referee directed the opening match of the championship between Estonia and Croatia on May 28, while on June 1 he was the main referee in the match between France and Montenegro.
UEFA's confidence in entrusting him with the management of the final represents a significant assessment of Florian Lata's professionalism and performances during the tournament. At the same time, this is a clear indication of the progress and growing reputation of Albanian refereeing in the international arena.
