The 50th UEFA Congress, held today in Brussels, adopted a number of important decisions related to the governance and development of European football. UEFA Vice-President Armand Duka also participated in the proceedings of this congress.

The Albanian Football Federation gave its report, while also indicating the decisions that were made.

" The 50th UEFA Congress, held today in Brussels, adopted a series of important decisions related to the governance and future of European football. UEFA Vice-President Armand Duka also participated in this congress.

Congress members approved the name of David Terrier, President of FIFPRO Europe, as FIFPRO Europe's representative on the UEFA Executive Committee. Terrier will serve a three-year term with full voting rights, a term that will run until the UEFA Congress in 2029.

During the Congress, Fernando Gomes was also awarded UEFA Honorary Membership in recognition of his outstanding contribution to European football. The renowned former Portuguese player was recognised for his role as President of the Portuguese Football Federation and the Portuguese League, as well as for his involvement in the governing bodies of UEFA and FIFA, including the position of Vice-President of the UEFA Executive Committee and membership of the FIFA Council.

The Congress also approved the UEFA Annual Report for the 2024/25 season, the financial report and financial statements for the same period, as well as the budget for the 2026/27 financial year. Delegates also voted on several amendments to the UEFA Statutes, while it was decided that the 51st ordinary UEFA Congress will be held on 4 March 2027 in Astana, Kazakhstan .

New representation on the Executive Committee

Congress members approved the appointment of David Terrier, President of FIFPRO Europe, as the organisation's representative on the UEFA Executive Committee. Terrier will serve a three-year term with full voting rights, which will run until the UEFA Congress in 2029.

This decision aims to strengthen player representation in the governing structures of European football, through the direct involvement of FIFPRO Europe in UEFA's highest decision-making body.

Honorary membership for Fernando Gomes

During the proceedings, the Congress awarded UEFA honorary membership to Fernando Gomes, in recognition of his contribution to European football.

The former Portuguese player has been praised for his role as President of the Portuguese Football Federation and the Portuguese League, as well as for his involvement in the governing bodies of UEFA and FIFA. He previously held the position of Vice-President of the UEFA Executive Committee and was a member of the FIFA Council.

Approval of reports and statutory amendments

Congress delegates also approved UEFA's Annual Report for the 2024/25 season, the financial report and financial statements for the same period, as well as the budget for the 2026/27 financial year.

Also, several changes to the UEFA Statutes were voted on, while it was decided that the 51st Ordinary UEFA Congress will be held on March 4, 2027 in Astana, Kazakhstan.

The decisions adopted in Brussels are expected to influence the strategic and organizational direction of European football in the coming years.
