It seems that luck has turned to Egnatia in the Conference League. With a play-off draw within reach, the team from Rrogozhina will face a tough test in the third round against Olimpija Ljubljana. But some “help” has come from the Slovenians themselves.
The latter have just sacked first team coach Jorge Simeone after a disastrous run of results in the league, where they were beaten 5-0 by Celje in their third week. The Portuguese coach was appointed on June 13, but the results under his leadership have not been satisfactory, leading to his dismissal.
For the matches against Egnatia and the following, the Slovenian team has entrusted the Croatian Ivan Senzenov. The latter has been a youth coach of Olimpija Ljubljana in the past, so he knows the club well. However, the limited time available to prepare for the matches against Egnatia will be an important bonus for Edlir Tetova's team, increasing their chances of passing the round.
