Ivan Balliu has fulfilled one of the biggest dreams of every child who loves football. He took his first steps in La Masia, becoming one of the biggest clubs in the world, in Barcelona. In an interview with journalist Ivan Vargas, Balliu told how he ended up in the ranks of the Catalan club. He revealed that he initially agreed to go to Real Madrid, as he also visited the club's facilities. But only a week later, Barcelona called and the family decided that the Blaugrana team would be the right-back's choice, then only 11 years old. The reason was the proximity to his hometown, Girona.
" Real Madrid contacted me and we even came to see the premises. I was in the old sports city, although I was told that I would not go there as a new one had been built in Valdebebas. Afterwards, we took a tour of the 'Santiago Bernabeu', visited the school I was going to look at and other things. We decided to stay.
About a week later, Barcelona called us and I don't know how they managed not to go to Madrid. In the end, moving to Barça was a family affair, being close to them, as Girona is only an hour away from Barcelona. It was easier that way ", Ivan Balliu said.
