The 2025 Club World Cup final, to be held on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, will pit two European giants against each other: Chelsea FC, winners of the Conference League, and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), champions of the 2024/25 Champions League.
This first clash between these two clubs for a world title promises to be a tough battle, with PSG considered the clear favorite, but Chelsea having the potential to surprise.
PSG enter the final as the most in-form team in the world, after an incredible season in which they won the European treble (Ligue 1, Coupe de France and Champions League). Their performance in the Club World Cup has been almost perfect, with the exception of a surprise 1-0 defeat to Botafogo in the group stage. They have dominated the knockout stage, beating Atlético Madrid, Seattle Sounders, Inter Miami, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid by a combined score of 16-0 in those matches. Their highlight was a 4-0 demolition of Real Madrid in the semi-finals, where they scored three goals in the first 24 minutes.
Chelsea, on the other hand, winners of the Conference League, have surprised many by reaching the final after a relatively easier path compared to PSG. They suffered a 3-1 defeat to Flamengo in the group stage, but then won against LAFC, ES Tunis, Benfica, Palmeiras and Fluminense (2-0 in the semi-finals). Chelsea have scored 14 goals in the tournament, an average of 2.33 goals per game, and have shown continuous improvement throughout the tournament.
However, based on current form, statistics and expert analysis, PSG is the clear favorite to win the 2025 Club World Cup. According to Opta's supercomputer, PSG has a 64.4% chance of winning within 90 minutes, while Chelsea has 35.58%.
