Researcher Auron Tare has reacted to Thursday's incident after the Dinamo 1-1 Jagiellonia match, where some Polish fans made some inappropriate gestures at the Skanderbeg monument in downtown Tirana.
Tare expresses indignation at the fact that this event has not received the appropriate response, while also criticizing the police for arresting the young Albanians who reacted against the Poles. He says that the young people should be released immediately after trying to defend national honor and should even be thanked for their reaction to the Poles.
"Only a mentally emasculated people do not react to this unheard of event. I do not know the details, but keeping in prison boys who tried to defend the honor of Albania in this national insult makes no sense. Those boys should be released and thanked for what they did on behalf of Albanians," writes Tare.
Tare emphasizes that if the Albanian boys are not released, then the facades in institutions for the National Hero are in vain.
"Otherwise, the entire facade with the figure of George in Municipalities and Institutions is a vain hypocrisy of a people who have no respect for their country and their heroes," Tare adds.
Police announced that three people had been arrested and two others were under investigation for the incident.
