Patrick Amoako Sefa, the father of the late football player Raphael Dwamena, has reacted after the death of the 28-year-old by appealing for financial support to send his body from Albania to Ghana.
"We cried a lot when we heard the news, but we have faith in God to give us strength," said Patrick Amoako Sefa, in an interview with Peace FM.
He appealed to the Ghana Football Association and the government for financial support to repatriate the body of the footballer.
"We spoke with his wife and she told us that there (Albania) they were taking measures to secure a flight to bring the body to Ghana. But we need help to bring the body to Ghana. We are calling on the Ghana Football Association and everyone to help us," he said.
The 28-year-old captain of Egnatia passed away on Saturday, November 11, 2023, after losing consciousness during the challenge with Partizan.
Raphael Dwamena, who had a documented history of heart problems, collapsed on the field and died while being transported to hospital in an ambulance.
His tragic story begins in childhood, when he was abandoned by his parents and raised by his grandmother. Although he has been absent for most of the life of the former Egnatia captain, his father has come alive at the moment when he has to bury his son who was only 28 years old.
