The former best scorer of the Romanian championship, Azdren Llullaku, has defended the decision of the Kosovo players to abandon the match with Romania, after the calls of "Serbia, Serbia" by the Romanian fans. The former Albanian footballer plays in the third Romanian league.
He expects Kosovo to lose 3-0 at the table, but says the players defended their dignity by leaving the field.
" They would leave the field even if it was 3-0 for Kosovo", said Llullaku, who moved to Romania in 2012 .
" I saw the match on television. I'm sorry it happened that way. I know what I say will not sound good to some. As far as I know, the players were determined to leave the pitch after the first chants of 'Serbia, Serbia'. I am 100 percent sure that they did not expect this to win three points in the UEFA commissions. It's just that it's in a lot of pain because it's going on like this. You understand that we in Kosovo have gone through the war.
We have family members who died in the war. I'm out of there, I've seen it all. It is a wound that has not been closed. Believe me, when you hear 'Serbia, Serbia' it is very painful. So that this does not happen again, they made the decision to leave the field ", said Llullaku for "fanatik.ro".
The striker has six appearances for Albania, while he has played for many Romanian teams. He has also made a career in Italy and some other countries. Llullaku has continued to support the Kosovo players.
" From what I heard from Rrahmani, the whole stadium shouted 'Serbia, Serbia'. If there were four or five calls, it wouldn't be a problem. But when the whole mass screams, then it's not right. For us in Kosovo, the calls 'Serbia, Serbia' are very painful. Better to be scolded by our mother, whatever they want.
I am giving an example so that you can understand how we feel if there is a call 'Serbia, Serbia'. If in a match against Palestine there are chants of 'Israel, Israel', how do you think the Palestinian players will feel, when they have hundreds of dead children, bombed houses. This shows how painful it is, as we have gone through something like this ", added Llullaku.
