The absolute world boxing champion, Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk (37 years old), was arrested at Krakow airport, while the video of the arrest appeared on social networks.
According to the media, Usyk planned to fly to Valencia (Spain) where he wants to prepare for the rematch against Tyson Fury (36) in Riyadh on December 21 (Saudi Arabia). The Ukrainian was detained under unclear circumstances and later declared to be a misunderstanding. A video published on social networks shows Usik leaving police officers in handcuffs.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky immediately intervened in this case, after which Usyk was released.
"There was a misunderstanding. Everything was resolved quickly. Thanks to everyone who cared. Thanks to Ukrainian diplomats for their effective support," Usyk wrote on Twitter, but did not reveal why he was arrested.
