Not only in Germany, Franc Beckenbauer was a myth in Albania as well, a player who made thousands of fans of the German representative even in our country, above all in Shkodër. Meeting Beckenbauer was a great fortune, even more so in Albania of those years.
Česk Shllaku was one of them, a photojournalist who was lucky enough not only to meet the German star, but also to accompany him to Shkodër and Tirana, on his visit in March 1983, his first visit not as a player, but as a journalist, as an official. Shllaku remembers those moments for "News Sport" with nostalgia:
" It seemed like a dream to me. Only the photo took away my dream, if I didn't take photos, I wouldn't be able to perceive who I was there with. Even when he spoke, he spoke calmly .
Beckenbauer had not forgotten the time when he played against Albania, even on his return he insisted on meeting Sabah Biz, the legend of Albanian football, once a rival on the field with Beckenbauer:
" He was looking for Sabah Biz to meet him, he was obsessed with him. When Sabah left the sport, there was a bit of a mess. He insisted, that is, he demanded it at all costs ".
In his interview with the journalist Senad Nikshiqi, Shllaku also remembers the moment when the fans welcomed Beckenbauer in the stadium.
" As soon as he entered the stadium, all the people were taken to their feet. It is not known where they sent him after, with the police, or something like that... I have not seen him again. The stadium became heavy, I saw it, it seemed everything. Everyone was chanting his name and he was having fun ," said photojournalist Česk Shllaku.
