The President of the Albanian Football Federation, Armand Duka, on September 26, was elected Vice-President of UEFA at the meeting of the Executive Committee of the European football government. A big event for our football, as well as getting the right to organize the finals of the U-17 European Championship in 2025.
President Duka has commented on his election as vice-president of UEFA in an interview given to Supersport, on the show "Elite Show". He has shown how everything happened, while he also touched on other topics that are mainly related to the National Team and the qualification for "EURO 2024".
Media frenzy - "Neither the first day nor today, I was not a very careful person regarding relations with the media. It didn't make any impression on me either then or today. I have a compass to do my best, to do what needs to be done. Of course, I feel good when the media say good words, but the relationship with the press does not take part of my time".
The election of the vice-president and the benefits of Albania - "I really hadn't thought about it, but it was the head of UEFA who proposed it to me. I accepted it and welcomed it. Normally in the history of the institution, the member who receives the most votes in the Executive Committee is a potential candidate for vice. President. What does our country benefit from? Albania is one of the 55 members of this institution and if it does its duties well, it benefits quite a bit. Every year we organize qualifying tournaments, which give chances to young people, but also other organizations such as the Conference League and "EURO 2025" for the U17, which have been entrusted to Albania".
Candidate for President? - "I have just been elected deputy President and I have taken the commitment to meet the expectations of those who elected me. I will be very pleased to do well in this task. It is a pleasure to be in that institution and to be Albanian. It is a very organized and advanced organization, so I am very pleased to be there."
