Mërgim Vojvoda, one of the pillars of the defense of the Kosovo National Team, in the latest episode of the 'FFK Podcast' has revealed the emotions, goals and realism of a footballer who has spent important years with the "Dardanëve" jersey. For him, qualifying for the 2026 World Cup would be the pinnacle of his career and the realization of his childhood dream. He emphasized that such a success would have the weight of a moment that surpasses any individual achievement.
In his analysis of the first play-off match, Vojvoda sees the challenge against Slovakia as completely open, assessing that the Kosovo team has shown maturity and character to see this journey through to the end. According to him, the fact that the potential final is played at home gives the "Dardans" an additional sense of confidence and motivation.
One of the important points he highlighted is the physical condition of the players, which he sees as a key factor in matches of this level. He described the play-off matches as true finals, where every detail, be it energy, freshness or concentration, can make the difference.
Vojvoda also focused on the differences between generations, appreciating that the new players of the National Team are showing discipline, concentration and extraordinary respect for the jersey. He singled out with admiration the sacrifices of some of them who travel for hours from distant places just to be part of Kosovo, describing this dedication as an inspiring example.
In his emotional return to the tough defeat against Switzerland in the opening qualifiers, Vojvoda admitted that the team took that result hard. However, he added that that challenge served as a turning point, because from that match the group changed its approach, became more compact and united. This transformation, according to him, was fundamental in reaching the play-offs.
He also spoke about the increased mentality within the team, compared to the early years of the national team, emphasizing that today every player is aware of the importance of the team over the individual. According to him, Kosovo is approaching the way of thinking that great national teams have, where everyone, whether a starter or a player who comes in from the bench, knows their duty and gives their maximum for the three points.
Finally, Vojvoda also stopped by Como, his current team in Serie A, talking about the challenges of the Italian championship and personal expectations for the current edition, where he aims to contribute maximally both to the club and to the national team.
