According to Polish outlet Meczyki, striker Robert Lewandowski has been contacted by Saudi Arabia, but despite the Gulf state reportedly offering him a substantial fee, the Barca number nine has rejected the offer and wants to stay in Catalonia.
For several months, the Saudis have been determined to use football as a development tool and have increased their offers to attract European players. After Benzema, Kante, Mendy, Neves and Ziyech, to name but a few, it was Robert Lewandowski's turn to approach from Saudi Arabia.
While some have agreed to join the Saudi League, few have flatly rejected the millions of euros offered by the Gulf state. Well, Lewandowski can now boast that he was one of those who did. He is said to have said no to an offer of 150 million euros per season.
The 34-year-old striker is very happy at Barcelona, where he joined last summer from Bayern Munich for 45 million euros, and has no plans to leave during the summer transfer window, intending to stay in Spain.
In his first season in Spain, Lewandowski finished as La Liga's top scorer with a total of 23 goals. Thanks to 33 goals and 8 assists in 46 games played in all competitions, he was one of the main reasons why Xavi's team won the league title.
