The Brazilian attacker, Robinjo, has been sentenced to 9 years of imprisonment by the Brazilian criminal court, on the charge of gang rape of an Albanian girl in 2017. He was arrested in Brazil, and the law did not allow his extradition to Italy, the country where he had committed the crime. But now it is learned that the 40-year-old will serve his sentence in Brazil, and in one of the most notorious prisons of this country.
The prison is located in Pernambuco, and is one of the worst in Brazil. The living conditions are terribly difficult. The number of convicts is many times greater than the law allows. The country has an unprecedented lack of hygiene.
People with serious criminal records, such as terrorists, drug lords, and rapists, serve their sentences in prison. There have even been reports that inside the walls there is also sexual violence between prisoners.
Apparently, these next 9 years will be among the worst for the former Milan and Manchester City striker. It is hard to imagine how one of the best footballers of his generation would end up in these circumstances.
