This afternoon, the Flag Handover Ceremony was held by President Bajram Begaj for the Albanian team that will compete in the Winter Olympic Games that begin on February 6 in Cortina, Italy.
Albania will be represented by 4 skiers at the Olympic Games, Lara Colturi, Denni Xhepa, Lisa Brunga and Semire Dauti.
In his speech, the President of the Republic, Bajram Begaj, declared that Albania will be represented with dignity at the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympic Games. The Head of State emphasized that the participation of Albanian athletes in this major international event is proof of the country's progress and ambition in the sports arena.
Begaj said that success is measured by the dedication, professionalism and passion of the athletes, adding that they are an inspiring example for young Albanians and proof that dreams have no limits.
" You will represent your country, you will carry the ambition of Albania, where until yesterday we were distant visitors. Now we are ranked with dignity among countries that have records in the Winter Games and should make us proud. It is not measured by square kilometers of ski slopes, but it is measured by the size of the hearts of those athletes.
You are the four who have broken the tradition of participating in events that were previously unimaginable to us.
"Albania ranks alongside countries with a long tradition because you believed in your training, professionalism and passion. You are proof that the dreams of young people have no limits ," concluded President Bajram Begaj.
