The year 2024 could be the last for Lewis Hamilton in Formula 1 as a driver, at least that's what he says himself.
The seven-time world champion has admitted he may retire at the end of the season, although Mercedes wants to give the Briton one last title in order to break Mikael Shumaker's record.
In an interview given to "Formule1.nl", he says:
" Retraction? It's possible. I have no plans for the future. I still feel fit and enjoy what I'm doing. Now I have learned that you should never say never in life. I never thought about that after a long time in Formula 1 and I will still feel the same love for the sport. It's a love-hate relationship. I think there comes a point in your life when you can't anymore. But the love is still there ."
Hamilton also stopped at starting a family, with the 39-year-old saying he doesn't have time for that.
" I don't have time for that. I'm enjoying being an uncle. I haven't decided when I will have children yet. I don't have time for that right now. If I want a family then I have to focus less on racing and I don't want to do that. There is a time and place for everything. Unfortunately, I can't make that choice now, maybe one day ," said the Briton.
