Algeria has recorded a surprise victory over the Netherlands, triumphing by a minimum score of 1-0 in Rotterdam in a friendly match held just days before the start of the World Cup in North America.
Despite the home team's dominance for most of the match and numerous scoring opportunities, the "Tulips" failed to find the net. The decisive moment came in the 86th minute, when Hadj Moussa scored the only goal of the match, giving the Algerian national team the victory.
One of the main protagonists of the match was goalkeeper Luka Zidane. The 28-year-old goalkeeper, who plays for Spanish team Granada and is the son of French football legend Zinedine Zidane, put in a brilliant performance, making several crucial saves that kept Algeria's goal intact.
His performance is considered a strong argument in the race to secure a place in coach Vladimir Petkovic's final list. The Algerian coach has gathered four goalkeepers for the preparatory phase, but only three of them will be part of the squad that will participate in the major tournament, which starts on June 11.
