The President of the Albanian Football Federation, Armand Duka, was invited to the show "Ndryshe" on "Top Albania Radio", where he spoke about the new coach of the Albanian National Team, Rolando Maran, the objectives of the red and black team, but also about the Italian coach's salary.
Duka expressed optimism about the style of play that Maran is expected to apply, emphasizing that the National Team will have a more offensive and attractive style on the field.
" I have seen Maran's matches and statements, his mentality. The result does not always depend on the game, but I am convinced of one thing, that with this coach Albania will play better. The teams that Maran has led have been aggressive, attacking and not that Italian mentality. Our team at this moment is able to play on the attack and make a game. This is what we want to do ," declared Duka.
The head of the Albanian Football Association (AFHA) mocked the selection of the new national team coach, when asked about the criteria that a national team coach must meet.
" There are criteria, it doesn't have to be hairy," he said with humor, adding: "It's best to be hairless, like the one we have. But even the one who left had hair and did well ."
The Duke also spoke about Maran's professional profile, describing him as a coach who has gradually grown in his career.
" Coaches, if we were to divide them, are those who started from scratch and have grown, and those who have been good footballers and have started from the top. This is our first version ," he said.
Regarding the objectives, the AFF president emphasized that the goal is first place in the Nations League and qualification for "EURO 2028".
" In the Nations League, we must finish in first place and qualify for EURO 2028 ," said Duka.
He also explained the process of selecting the new coach, revealing that Maran was part of a short list of candidates.
" When looking for a coach, the proposals come themselves and make a short list. One of them was the coach we appointed. I didn't know him, I only met him twice before the appointment ," said Duka, adding that Albanian coaches have not been excluded, but the federation has preferred experience from "the best football schools."
Finally, Duka also commented on the rumors about the new coach's salary, denying the figures rumored in the media.
" Maran's salary is the same as Silvinho's, maybe a percentage more. There are many abuses regarding salaries, neither of them has received more than 1 million euros ," declared the president of the Albanian Football Association.
