The Milan team is plunged into sadness after the passing of Pierangelo Beli, the historic red and black goalkeeper and one of the important figures of the club's golden era under the leadership of legendary coach Nereo Rocco.
Born in 1944, Beli was part of Milan from 1966 to 1973, a golden period for the Lombard club. Although he was often considered a substitute for big names such as Fabio Cudicini and William Vecchi, he managed to leave an important mark on the club's history. In 68 official matches played with the red and black jersey, Beli contributed to an impressive record.
With Milan, he won a Serie A championship, two European Cups, an Intercontinental Cup, two Cup Winners' Cups and three Italian Cups. A special moment of his career remains the 1967 Italian Cup final against Padova, where Beli was a starter and protagonist in the team's success.
Pierangelo Belli's last match in a Milan shirt was played on April 21, 1973, in the famous and controversial match against Lazio, thus closing a glorious cycle that saw Milan rise to the top of world football.
His loss represents another page of mourning for the history of the red-and-black club and for the generations that remember with respect the glorious era of the "Devil".
