Ukrainian Premier League football teams Dnipro-1 and Oleksandria played for almost five hours on Monday, the longest match in the history of the Ukrainian championship. The match of Week 13, which was played in Dnipro, started at 17:00 and ended just before 22:00, after almost 280 minutes.
This was due to numerous interruptions due to air raid alerts. The matches, which are played without spectators for security reasons, had to be stopped in the event of an air-raid alarm that sounded several times during the match between Dnipro-1 and Oleksandria.
The match between Stockport and Doncaster Rovers in 1946 lasted 203 minutes, but the first division challenge in the Ukraine lasted longer and became the longest in history. In the end, Dnipro won 1-0, while Aleksandar Filipov scored the decisive goal in the 34th minute of the match.
Dnipro is currently in second place in the Ukrainian championship with 27 points, the same as leaders Kryvbas. Shakhtar Donetsk is fourth with 24 points, while Dynamo Kyiv is in eighth place with 16 points.
