Switzerland, Scotland, Spain, Austria and Belgium are the 5 teams that, after today's matches, the last in the qualifying groups in Europe, have secured their ticket to the final stage of the 2026 World Cup.
Austria drew 1-1 with Bosnia and Herzegovina, ranking first in Group H with 19 points. Bosnia ranks second with 17 points. Austria goes directly to the World Cup, Bosnia in the play-offs.
Belgium won 7-0 against Liechtenstein, officially sealing their World Cup qualification, after finishing top of Group J with 18 points. Wales won 7-1 against North Macedonia and secured their place in the play-offs.
Spain drew 2-2 with Turkey in the match played in Seville. Spain goes directly to the World Cup, Turkey in the play-offs.
The real drama came at Hampden Park in Glasgow, where Scotland won 4-2 against Denmark. The Danes played with a man down for 30 minutes after Kristensen's second yellow card.
Scotland secured their place in the World Cup thanks to two incredible goals in extra time, with Kieran Tierney scoring a superb long-range strike and in the final minute of extra time, McLaren sealed a 4-2 victory. Denmark are through to the play-offs.
