From Gjimshiti and Hysaj to Strakosha and Uzuni, who are the national team

Albanian National Team captain Berat Gjimshiti has expressed disappointment after the Rossoneri's loss to Poland in Warsaw, hinting that for some players this may have been one of the last opportunities to aim for a major objective.

" We are more upset because we are a little older and it was probably the last chance to participate ," said Gjimshiti after the match.

At the age of 33, the red and black defender is expected to face a major challenge to maintain his form at high levels for the next three or four years, in order to remain part of the team in its efforts to qualify for the 2030 World Cup.

Players at the end of the cycle

Gjimshiti is not the only case. Several national team players are at an advanced stage of their careers, questioning their presence in the long-term objectives.

Ivan Balliu, 34, is considered one of the names least likely to be part of the next qualifying cycle. Meanwhile, players like Elseid Hysaj, Arlind Ajeti and Naser Aliji, all 32, may also find it difficult to maintain a leading role in a few years.

Uncertain future for some names

In an intermediate situation are several other players, such as Thomas Strakosha (31 years old) and attacking midfielders Qazim Laçi, Myrto Uzuni and Jasir Asani, who are around 30 years old.

For these players, the future in the National Team will depend not only on their individual form, but also on the development of the new generation, who are expected to compete for a place in the team.

OUTLOOK

Team renewal seems inevitable, while the technical staff will have to balance experience with the energy of young players in view of future objectives.
