Heartbroken, but knowing that his beloved daughter, Irina Alvarez Ezquivel, is now an angel in heaven, footballer Fredi Alvarez gave a message for the first time, following the tragedy in which his eldest daughter, only 9 years old, lost her life in Albania.
The footballer arrived in the country on Thursday with his wife Maria Fernanda Ezquivel and their 5-year-old son. They traveled on the same plane that brought the body of the little girl, whose death shocked the country a week ago. According to what "La Nacion" has learned, José Luis Rodríguez from 'Fútbol Consultants', who is the footballer's representative, was waiting for them at the airport.
It is understandable that the midfielder and his wife did not have the mental strength to deal with these issues and, amidst the pain and shock, he became the mainstay to manage the complicated repatriation from Europe.
Thanks to his intervention and the support of the Tirana team, the family managed to expedite legal procedures at a time when resources were lacking.
The footballer's family arrived from Guanacaste, and his wife's relatives from San Ramon. Everyone was there at the airport, for a reunion that proved devastating, given such a difficult situation.
Upon arrival at the site, another procedure remained, as due to the time elapsed, the Ministry of Health authorities had to examine the body to decide whether it was possible to hold a funeral ceremony, or whether burial should take place immediately.
After the checkup provided for by protocol, the news was somewhat comforting: the body had arrived in good condition, allowing the family to fulfill their wish to say goodbye to the little girl surrounded by her loved ones.
" We will accompany our angel Irina this Friday. All those who wish to accompany us can do so at Brazilito Beach. I thank everyone who sent us messages of support in this difficult moment. Thank you ," said Fredi Alvarez through a message on his Facebook account, breaking the silence after the tragedy.
The funeral home picked up the body at the airport and after midnight, Fredi Alvarez and his entire family headed to Brazilito, in Santa Cruz. Irina's funeral will be held this Saturday.

Fredi Alvarez had enthusiastically started his time at KF Tirana, after his previous spell at Municipal Liberia. However, a week ago, disaster struck. Although there is no detailed official report, local media in the European country reported that the little girl suffered a domestic accident after falling from a bunk bed.
