Oskar Piastri with MeLaren secured "pole position" in Barcelona, valid for the Spanish Grand Prix in Formula 1. The Australian pilot set a time of 1'11”546, winning the duel with his teammate, Lando Norris, in second.
On the second grid were Max Verstappen (third in Red Bull) and George Russell (fourth in Mercedes), who were unable to duel with the two McLaren drivers. The British car was always one gear ahead of its rivals.
Only fifth was Lewis Hamilton with Ferrari, who left behind Kimi Antonelli (sixth) with Mercedes. While in seventh place was the other Ferrari car, that of Charles Leclerc, who was not on his best day.
Also in the "top-10" are Pierre Gasly, Isak Hadjar and Fernando Alonso. Today's practice showed once again that Sunday's race in Spain will be a duel within the McLaren family, but the surprise could come from the start or a different tire strategy.
