Former Brazil star Dani Alves was released from prison on Monday afternoon after being granted bail on a €1m bond, which saw him out of custody 14 months after handing himself in to authorities. Alves was convicted of rape, but the case is on appeal.
Alves left prison on Monday and declined to comment, but went straight to his home in Esplugues de Llobregat, where Sport say he has not left since. He has had both his Spanish and Brazilian passports revoked to reduce his flight risk.
On Tuesday night, he saw two friends who arrived home wearing hoodies and were spotted by the paparazzi. The same friends stayed home and the music played until 5am that night. Alves' father was celebrating his birthday at a restaurant in Barcelona and continued the celebrations at the former Sevilla and Barcelona player's home.
Alves was sentenced to 4.5 years in prison for rape, and he paid 150,000 euros in compensation to the victim. The prosecution and the victim have appealed the sentence seeking a longer sentence, while the defense has appealed in an effort to see Alves released.
