The Dutch Sports Court ruled on Thursday to ban Mark Overmars from any role in football for two years (one of them suspended). The reason for this decision is the behavior of the former Dutch striker, who sent sexual images to female employees when he was sports director at Ajax.
In the court's decision, it is stated that "in considering the appropriate sanction, the disciplinary commission took into account that the case was highly publicized, to the detriment of the accused", - where it is also emphasized that the "inappropriate behavior" of Overmars lasted a long time and there were several cases identified.
The Dutchman resigned in February 2022 from Ajax but signed a month later with Antwerp in Belgium. The former Dutch forward won the Champions League with Ajax almost three decades ago, and also played for Arsenal and Barcelona.
