The midfielder of the national team of Moldova, Vadim Rata, answered the questions of journalists during a press conference on the eve of the match against Albania. According to him, if he thinks too much about the chances of qualifying, then in the end everything can go wrong.
"We are waiting for our fans in this match, because in our first match with Albania, I believe that their fans directly influenced the final result. Thanks to their fans, they later beat Poland and the Czech Republic at home. So for tomorrow's game it will be very important for us to have our 12th player with us. That's all, come to the stadium and support us." This was the call of Vadim Ratas to the Moldovan fans on the eve of the challenge with Albania.
- Is tomorrow's match with Albania the most important for you? Considering what victory can bring us.
Yes, if you look at it that way, this match is very important. But, I don't want to support this pressure on the team, being involved by you and many people in the country. I understand them, because we have never had such an opportunity in history. But we just want to go out on the pitch, give our best, show our game and win all the battles. We hope to achieve a good result. Albania seems to be the strongest opponent in our group, we have already felt it on the field. All that is required of us is to get on the field and show what we are capable of. After that we'll see where we end up.
– Does this pressure you mentioned hinder the team?
Yes, that's just football pressure. This happens when you think too much about the outcome and what can come out of it in the end. If you think too much about the chances of qualifying, then in the end everything can turn out to be quite the opposite. As a rule, a person under pressure does not show his best results when it comes to football.
– If tomorrow there is a sudden need to execute a penalty, will you take it, given your recent experience in Voluntary?
I will answer you like this: God willing, we will have such a need. We have a lot of guys in our team who are good penalty takers. Personally, I don't even fit into this list that the coach makes for us before the match. There are two or three other performers ahead of me on the list, so that's good (smiles).
