After Zelimkhan Abakarov and Islam Dudaev, the Albanian Wrestling Federation has achieved another big blow, wearing the third Russian in red and black. He is Chermen Valiev, 25 years old, a very good freestyle wrestler. The news of his approach to the national team was given by the president of the Albanian Wrestling Federation, Sahit Prizreni. In a statement for "Panorama Sport", Prizren announced that Valiev has joined Albania and that he will make his debut at the European Championship, an event being held in Bucharest.
" Chermen Valiev is officially part of the National Team. He is licensed and registered in the Albanian Wrestling Federation and is confirmed to participate in the European Championship that has already started in Bucharest, as he will compete in the freestyle for the 74 kg weight ", says Prizreni.
The head of the FSHM emphasizes that it is a matter of a wrestler with many qualities: " Veliev is one of the best athletes that Russia has had. He was declared world champion for U-23 in the championship held in 2021. He was declared champion in Russia last year, while this year he will represent Albania .
Prizren says that the federation in cooperation with the Olympic Committee have done an excellent job by closing the approach in record time: " What I can say is that we have done a fantastic job, I would call it a 'theft' against the Russian state, get an excellent athlete only 25 years old. A very promising wrestler, whom I would call a model athlete, seeing the desire, discipline, talent and qualities he has.
For this part, the president of KOKSH, Fidel Ylli, helped a lot, who made it possible for us to get the visa and residence permit in record time, two days' work. This also enabled us to be licensed in the World Federation. Valiev already has a residence permit and very soon he will be equipped with a passport ", says the former great champion of Albanian wrestling, who now leads the federation.
Expectations - Sahit Prizreni has also spoken about Albania's expectations in the European Championship, where gold medals are aimed, not only with Valiev:
" I absolutely believe that he will be declared European champion, just as we expect from Zelimkhan Abakarov and Islam Dudaev. Of course, any medal would be an achievement. Now we are in another Olympic year and the goal remains the Olympics. After Abakarov, already qualified, we will try the last two wrestlers after the European, which are in Azerbaijan and Turkey in the months of April and May .
The World Cup in Tirana - Meanwhile, the head of the FSM has revealed the organization of another major international event, where Albania will host the U-23 World Cup for the first time:
" On Monday, I was confirmed to receive a large organization in Albania such as the World Championship for adults for the four weights that do not participate in the Olympic Games. 4 weights in freestyle, 4 in Greco-Roman and 4 for women. So, this is the latest innovation and to receive a World Championship in Albania is a big thing, while we, as you know, have also received the U-23 World Cup, where after this event we will now also hold the World Cup for adults. The Congress of the World Wrestling Federation in Tirana will also take place in our country. So, Albanian wrestling is at another level, even though the conditions here, as you know, are not absolutely favorable ", concludes Prizren.
