The first two matches of the fourth round of the Champions League have ended, between PSV-Girona which ended with the result 4-0 and Slovan Bratislava-Dinamo Zagreb which ended with the result 1-4.
PSV Eindhoven recorded their first Champions League win of the season with a 4-0 win over 10-man Girona.
Girona's hopes of reaching the knockout stages of the Champions League took another blow on Tuesday as they were beaten 4-0 by PSV Eindhoven.
Dutchmen PSV got the match off to a strong start at Phillips Stadion, scoring in the opening 16 minutes through Ryan Flamingo. 17 minutes later, it would be 2-0 as Malik Tillman fired past Paulo Gazzaniga in the Girona goal.
The score would remain the same until the end of the first half. But then just 10 minutes into the second half, Girona's task became even more difficult as Arnau Martinez, who scored against Leganes at the weekend, was sent off following a second yellow card to leave the side with 10 players.
PSV would take advantage of the numerical advantage late on by scoring two more goals. Ismael Saibari scored in the 83rd minute, before Ladislav Krejci inadvertently poked the ball into his own net soon after, marking Girona's fourth own goal in four Champions League games this season.
The result keeps Girona in 26th place in the league stage standings, currently, but at the conclusion of round four they will be at the bottom of the table.
In Slovakia, Dinamo Zagreb dug deep to complete a 4-1 comeback over Slovan Bratislava.
Despite having zero points to their name, the Slovaks from Bratislava started brightly scoring in the 5th minute through David Strelec.
However, a few minutes later, in the 10th minute, Dario Špikić scored the equalizing goal for Dinamo and from that moment there were no stops for the friends.
In the 30th minute, Petar Sučič headed a cross to reverse the score to 1-2. The score would remain unchanged for the first half. Then in the second the friends would score two more goals through Sandro Kulenović who scored twice in the 54th and 72nd.
With this win, Dinamo Zagreb is in 10th place in the table and Slovan Bratislava is at the bottom of the table.
