Giacomo Vrioni has been officially announced as a new Cesena player, returning to Italian football after a long period spent in Major League Soccer in the United States. The red and black striker, in his presentation to the media, shared his impressions on the experience in MLS, the current situation and the environment he has found at the new team.
Tell us about your experience in the United States. How are you feeling, considering you haven't played in a while?
"It's been a positive experience. It's a league that has grown a lot in recent years, getting very close to the top 4, 5 and 6 European leagues. It's improving every year and will undoubtedly continue to do so in the coming years. I feel good, I've started training with the team.
Your story is similar to Kristian Shpendi's; you come from the same area. Have you heard of him over the years? What kind of team did you find in Cesena?
"Yes, I had heard about both brothers, as they are Albanian. I was pleased that they were doing well, especially Cristian, who I think won the top scorer award two years ago. I am pleased to see a boy born and raised here, with parents who moved here to seek a better future.
Are you ready to play?
"I don't know, I only spent two days with the team, so it's hard to say. But I spent three and a half months training hard just with my coach to try to be ready when Cesena called me.
