Roma have taken a false step in the race for a Champions League place, after being held to a 1-1 draw against Atalanta at the "Olimpico" stadium, in the match valid for the 33rd week of Serie A.
The team from Bergamo took the lead in the 12th minute. After a loose ball from Stephan El Shaarawy and an assist from Marten de Roon, Nikola Krstovic scored with a powerful shot from the edge of the area, beating the home goalkeeper.
Roma responded late in the first half, restoring parity. Mario Hermoso scored with a beautiful half-volley inside the area, following a header from Devyne Rensch.
The first half ended in a 1-1 draw, a score that remained unchanged throughout the second 45 minutes, despite both teams' efforts to find the winning goal.
After this draw, Roma is ranked sixth with 58 points, giving Juventus the opportunity to break away in the standings if they manage to win their next match against Bologna. Como is in fifth place, also with 58 points, after losing 2-1 to Sassuolo the day before. Atalanta holds seventh place with 54 points.
