Pedro Diaz, at the age of 26, is living his dream of playing in La Liga for the first time with Rayo Vallecano, scoring his first goal against Real Madrid, but it will cost him a lot of money.
He was born in Ciero, a town in northern Spain, and is a product of Sporting Gijon's academy, from which he transferred to France to Bordeaux in the summer of 2023.
He only stayed one year at the "Girondins" and last summer he found himself in Madrid and more specifically in Vallecas, on behalf of Rayo Vallecano, fulfilling his dream of playing in La Liga.
26-year-old Pedro Diaz started the away game against Real Madrid on Sunday night, where his team, despite an excellent performance, lost 2-1, with his first goal in the Premier League.
A goal that he celebrated furiously and will surely remember for the rest of his life, but this will happen for two reasons.
The first is obvious as a goal against Real always has special significance.
The latter, however, concerns a promise he made the morning of the match to his parents, who still live in Siero, which will cost him several thousand euros, as he revealed while speaking to Radio Marca.
"I'll never forget that goal. I was talking to my parents this morning on the phone. We always talk before games and in the conversation with them I said: 'if I score today I'll buy a car'. "Honestly, I said it jokingly, I didn't have a premonition, but I'll have to stick to it.
