How would you evaluate this performance of the National Team?
Expected. Within normal. Albania has a good group, I think more favorable than the one in 2016, but meanwhile there is also a group of quality players who can make a surprise.
What surprise are you talking about?
Which can be ranked first in the group.
Really?
Yes indeed. Albania's group is not the most difficult in the world... Portugal, Denmark and Serbia are more difficult than the ones you have today. With all due respect to Moldova and the Faroe Islands, I don't think they are at the level of Albania. Meanwhile, if Poland honors Albania and loses to Moldova, then I think this is a pretty big advantage... (laughs). Do you think we have more chances now?
Undoubtedly yes. Back then I had to first find the right players, form a quality group but above all united around a goal and then fight for a mission that was never fulfilled. We all succeeded together, with the support of the federation, with the desire and sacrifices of those boys who contributed and with a staff who devoted all their energy and time to a big dream. Now it is a little easier, not only because the road is paved, but because the players play at high levels. You have footballers in Italy who have played in the Champions League, in the Premier League, in Spain, etc.
Often your successors have "suffered" the fact that they were compared to De Biaz and his great achievement in "EURO 2016"... Can this penalize Silvinho?
Jo, krahasimet në futboll nuk vlejnë. Së pari, nuk mendoj se Reja me përvojën që kishte mund të vuante një presion si ky. Ai kishte kaluar shumë gjëra në karrierën e tij, le ta themi hapur këtë. Sa i përket Silvinjos, nuk mendoj se do të ketë një pengesë të tillë, sepse edhe falë punës që ka bërë Reja së bashku me federatën, ai ka fatin që të ketë në dispozicion një grup lojtarësh cilësorë që mund të luajnë si të barabartë me këdo.
A mund të bëhen krahasime mes skuadrës që shkoi në Europian me ju dhe kësaj që tani po synon të përsërisë suksesin?
Nuk mund të bëhen krahasime, sepse janë periudha të ndryshme dhe lojtarë të ndryshëm. Për fat të mirë tani skuadra juaj ka futbollistë të një niveli të tillë që mund të luajë futboll cilësor dhe të gjejë zgjidhje nga më të ndryshmet.
A keni ndonjë këshillë miqësore për Silvinjon? Çfarë duhet të bëjë tani e tutje, ndoshta edhe në aspektin e menaxhimit të grupit, për të siguruar kualifikimin?
Unë nuk mund t’i jap këshilla Silvinjos. Natyrisht, unë i uroj me shpirt që të kualifikohen. Nuk jam një ziliqar që të bëhem keq pse të tjerët arrijnë gjëra të mëdha. Absolutisht jo. I uroj me shpirt Shqipërisë që të kualifikohet në Europian dhe kam besim se do t’ia dalin.
Për mënyrën se si Silvinjo po menaxhon grupin, se çfarë klime po krijon me skuadrën, tifozët dhe median, duket sikur ai po vepron si De Biazi. Nuk është imitim, por ka një qasje të ngjashme me atë që kishit ju për të krijuar një atmosferë sa më të mirë…
Shikoni, unë nuk e njoh Silvinjon as si njeri dhe as si trajner për të qenë i sinqertë. Unë njoha pak ndihmësin e tij, Doriva, sepse ka qenë dikur te Sampdoria. E takova kur isha herën e fundit aty në mars. M’u duk një djalë i mirë dhe mendoj se është një grup i mirë njerëzish që po punojnë mirë për të realizuar diçka të rëndësishme. Ndërsa sa i përket mënyrës së menaxhimit, që mund të jetë e ngjashme me atë timen, çka mund të jetë edhe thjesht një perceptim i juaji në fakt, atëherë mendoj se e ka mënyrë pune. Pra, nuk është e thënë që më “kopjon” mua, sepse ai nuk ka nevojë të kopjojë askënd, por vepron ashtu sepse mendon se kjo mund ta ndihmojë në marrëdhënien që krijon me lojtarët dhe me presidentin e FSHF-së.
